There was a private in the East Lancs with the same number, Fred Turner. Could some mistake have occurred in the casualty report?

There is a Fred Turner born in Marsden Yorkshire living at 6 Tulketh Street Southport in both the 1901 and 1911 census who would seem to tie in with the info Daggers found

Next time I am in Southport library I will see if he is mentioned in the Southport newspaper books. When was he wounded?

Nationally in 1910+1 there are only 10 F* Waddicor entries. Of these only 3 are male and all are in Lancashire.

Household: WADDICOR, Fletcher - 1877 34 Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire
Institution: WADDICOR, Frank - 1881 30 Chorlton, Lancashire
Household: WADDICOR, Frank - 1875 36 Fylde, Lancashire

Death: WADDICOR, Fletcher [64] - Lancashire, Ashton under Lyne - 1940
Death: WADDICOR, Frank - [68] - Lancashire, Ashton - 1949

Death: WADDICOR, Frank
Unit: Loyal North Lancashire Regiment
Rank: Private
Number: 16513
Year: 1916
Volume : I.22
Page: 357
Record source: GRO War Death Army Other Ranks (1914 to 1921)

Eliminating the first two Waddicor men by the age at death leaves the one from Fylde.

Ooops. My
mistake I put the soldier who was on the line below next to F. Turner. Well! I did say I'm not perfect and its a big project and I know I have errors and I am grateful for all the help in trying to make this index as accurate as possible. Thanks Daggers and DS and Hilary and MaryA.

And here he is all corrected.

Could his number have been mis-transcribed? The 9 could be read as a zero and the 3 as a 7.

The Frederick John Turner DS lists died in March 1918 and was the son of Samuel and Jane Turner of Bootle.

I don't think he is the same as the Fred Turner of Southport.
