I am seriously getting out of breath trying to keep up with you lot, and I should think that you've almost cracked it for me.
There was an indication that Christopher was a marine fireman/stoker and it now looks to be the case. I will now try and navigate my way through the marine deaths and sea mans cards in an effort to identify him, if there is photo' of him on one of the cards then it would be truly amazing because there is no one in the surviving family who knows what he even looked like so you can imagine what it might be like to see him for the first time.
Christopher and Christina had two daughters ( Mary Jane and Margaret ) who made it to adulthood, Christina, Winifred and young Christopher fell to the perils of infantile illness of the time while another daughter, Rose, made it to 6 years and the story goes that she may have been knocked down/killed by a horse and cart - but I know nothing more about that at this stage. ( I expect that might be another job for you Gen. detectives at some future date )
Anyway I am quite certain that you have found him, it remains for me to chase up what details I can to identify him and the cause / location of death, plus with a bit more to go on now I should be able to move back a pace to his dad.
Thank you all so much, I truly appreciate your time and effort. Obviously if you see any thing else which may be of interest to me on this thread it would be gladly accepted. thank you all again, hope to speak with soon with further update.

That date is a little late for the old newspapers available via the Lancashire Library online, but there's always the chance of an entry via Findmypast while you are looking for other items.

The alternative is, if you have the exact date of death you could check the microfilms of the Liverpool Echo at the Record Office.

I think you will find the burials at Ford Cemetery via Ancestry or the Ford cemetery microfiche at Crosby library or Liverpool Central library.

Find my Past terms & conditions do not allow look ups but as I said above some libraries have access.

Great success in the search for Christopher, thanks to all concerned I have now managed to identify him and have obtained sufficient detail from his Merchant Navy card to associate him with g/mothers address in Bootle, well done everyone.
In the research of his merchant service I have discovered that he died in Antwerp, Belgium and the record shows ' supposed drowned ' where would I start looking for further details, i.e. was there an enquiry / inquest into the death, what were the circumstances leading to " supposed drowning ' was there a funeral, where is he buried, would the captain's log be available for viewing.
Sorry to be a nuisance on this one but it is interesting as to just what happened and where he was laid to rest.

I would imagine he was buried in Antwerp. There might be more details in the ship's log book or on the crew list.

The crew lists would be in the National Archives at Kew I believe. They do not do look ups for you you either have to go there or employ a researcher. I think ship log books would be there but I don't know. You could make a general enquiry to them or to the Archives at the Maritime museum in Greenwich or the archives at the maritime museum in London might know.

Perhaps there was something in the local paper which might help. The Bootle Times is on film at Sefton Local history at Crosby library and also in Liverpool library.

Good result Chris. I suggest you get his death cert from the GRO quoting the Index and Page reference posted earlier. That could tell you if an inquest was held and perhaps other information.
