Army Hutted Camp, 1920s?

Does anyone know of a hutted camp, thought to be in or off Black Horse Lane, Stoneycroft, in the 1920s?
[As background, the road runs from Prescot Road and joins Queen's Drive at an angle. There is some open space shown on my maps of various dates.]

The "hutments" were apparently built during WW1 to accommodate American troops who had disembarked at Liverpool before they were sent to the Front. My Grandfather, John Frank Griffiths, Kings Liverpool Regiment (I'm still trying to find any record of his War service !!!) was allocated a hut on his discharge and my late father was born there in 1920. I have a photograph of the huts somewhere, I'll post it ASAP, Joe Griffiths (745)

Many thanks for confirmation that a camp existed. A visitor to the Town Hall asked the staff about it and they thought I might know. I didn't, but thought I would get an answer here.

Looking at that area on Google Earth and checking for roads/streets in the 1911 census, it appears that while Wharncliffe Road to the south of Doric Park was there, its eastward 'extension' Eastcliffe Road wasn't. And Acanthus Road on the north side of Doric park wasn't there either.

The estate to the south of Eastcliffe Road that includes Aberdale, Dundale and Dovercliffe appears to be absent so there could have been a sizeable area from Doric Park [and the current allotments] southwards to Prescot Road, all adjacent to Blackhorse Lane.

I have some burials of American Service men who died at the Camp and were buried at Kirkdale Cemetery. Majority of American Service men who were buried in Kirkdale were repatriated back to America or reburied in the American Military Cemetery in England.

It seems to be a very good chance, with Knotty Ash mentioned. I will pass the word to the Town Hall contact, for transmission to their enquirer.

To be honest I didn't, it was coincidence that the photograph was posted on that Group just when you had been talking about it. There are some fantastic photographs posted by them.
