I have been looking for almost a year now and I cannot find where Thomas Barrow born 1822 Widnes was christened and who is parents were.
He got married to Harriet Heyes my 2nd great grandmother on 29th October 1843. his father was James Barrow on the certificate and he was a watchmaker (occupation fits in well). the witness were Thomas Heyes and Hannah Barrow ( I also want to know who Hannah Barrow was as well).
I have found him in all of the census from 1851 1901, then he died in 1905.
Harriet his wife died in 1873 and in 1884 he married Ellen Green. ( Ellen I think was originally Ellen Heyes so I think she may have been a cousin of Harriets). I found the marriage to Ellen online (st Wilfrid) but it says his father was David Barrow not James as I thought it was. The witness on this marriage were Martha and Joshia Sparks, they were Thomas's Daughter and Son in Law.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please?
Thanks Andrea

Son David was baptised in St Mary, Hale, abode noted as Speke, where his mother was born, the other children were baptised at St Wilfred's Farnworth except for Thomas who sadly isn't listed.

Re: Thomas Barrow born 1822
On the next census page after the Barrow family found above, in Liverpool Road, is a Heyes family, with daughter Harriet and father John, although he is an Ag Lab but occupations do change..... or brides do fib.

Re: Thomas Barrow born 1822
Hi Mary thanks for looking, I am beginning to think that David is Thomas' father and I have been doing some research too. In the 1841 census most of the ages of the children are wrong, David shld be abt 22 not 20, Thomas shld be 20 not 15 and Hannah shld be 17 not 15. Maybe the family were illiterate and didn't know how old they were at the time???
Even the parents ages are not correct according to later census. It does say James is the father on the on the marriage certificate but who know's maybe they didn't know the fathers name at the time too??? Everything is all tying in with the family from Ditton and yes I did notice they lived in the same road as Harriet his future wife. And Hannah was a witness, it's all too much of a coincidence and that is why I think it is the correct family.
Unless someone else can me other information, I am presuming I have found Thomas's parents
Thanks Andre

Re: Thomas Barrow born 1822
remember that ages were rounded down to nearest 5 in the 1841 Census.
Thus
David 22=20
Thomas 19=15
Hannah 17=15

Thanks for pointing that out Alex, it did confuse me a lot as I had forgotten that.

THOMAS Barrow christened 4 November 1821 Farnworth nr Prescot son of DAVID and ALICE - per Familysearch. IGI batch number C00573-3
On Lancashire OPC it is mistranscribed as BARRON.
