I'm unconvinced, still looks like JH to me, however no entry being found on CWGC or other sites I have been looking down baptisms and could put forward a Joseph Henry and a James Henry who both lived in the right area in 1911. These two perhaps put on the back burner for the time being until we want to look closer at their families.

It's a close call but I think if you compare it to the J below and the L above it, the horizontal line is not long enough for the L and there is no full stop after it. It's a J with the full stop looking a but like the horizontal of an L... if you see what I mean?

Hampson J, aged 45, Printer and Steward, born Liverpool, address 10 Hallam Street Liverpool, SS Falaba, 28 Mar 1915 supposed drowned, ship sunk by enemy

Hallam Street is right by the church, CWGC shows that he was married and his widow was still at 10 Hallam St. Merchant Navy records are not so accurate with names so I would accept the missing middle initial.

The Falaba is another ship that I already have lots of info and newspaper cuttings about.
