I sometimes think I could write a book on this family. I've put this on another site as well, hope that is OK.
Paul Fell (father)
born 1770 Marown IOM. Married Isabella Stephenson B 1774 at Braddan in Nov 1791. Paul died Aug 1832 of Cholera. Isabella had predeceased him in 1825 a few months after their son Nelson in 1824.
Their children anre called Fell or Fayle depending on how the priest wrote it as they could not read or write.
Jane was married on 15 July 1832 in Liverpool. This does not give her father's name, but after William died in Jan 1858 aged 58, she remarried in 1861 to george Gaddarn (a sea farer) . This certificate gives her father as Paul Fell a farmer. Jane altered her age a lot on the censuses. Georgwe was younger than she was so I think she reduced her age a bit, whereas William was a fair bit older so her age was increased a bit.
Jane's siblings
1. Paul William b 1792 perhaps went to Liverpool as there is a Paul b IOM on 1841 census of the correct age.
2. Robert Fell b 1797 Douglas I presume he died but no evidence.
3&4. Twins Robert and Nelson b 23 March 1800, Douglas. As you said Robert lived and died in IOM. He married Jane Kewley 1831 in Kirk Rushen. He had a daughter Catherine b 1834, living with Jane on 1851 census. Nelson died 1824 and is buried by his mother and father.
5. Isabella 1802 no further knowledge on her.
6. John b 1804 perhaps died 1810 but not mentioned on grave stone as Nelson is. Silly me!! he will have died in Braddan or Douglas before the family moved from there.
7. Sarah b 1807 no further knowledge.
8. Catherine Fell (Cathe) b 1810 Married Flaxney Stowell in Nov 1832 in Castletown (Malew) Stayed therre until her death in 1898. Had no children that I can find.
9. Jane between 1811 and 1816. (No baptism found)
10. Christian Fayle (Fell) b 1815 no further info.
11. John b 1817 no further info.
12. William b 1820 at Marown. He lived with Catherine and Flaxney until his death in 1906. No marriage or children found.
The first 11 were christened in Braddan or Douglas (They are very close to each other), They then moved to Marown where William was christened then to Malew (or Castletown or Ballasalla all close together).
I was wondering if Christian (a girl) changed her name possibly when in Liverpool because of it being a boys name over here.
Would love to know when she left IOM and when and where baptised.
PS forgot to say I can't find William Godsoes birth/ baptism either. B c 1799, but don't know where. Maybe a William Godsoe Gordon b march 1799. Perhaps the piest dot confused because of strange surname???
Thanks for any help
Lynne
