Arthur Pinnington WW1+2 records

Post by confx »

I'm trying to find my fathers military records.
Arthur James Pinnington DoB 17thMay 1900.
All I've got is R N A S 1917-1919 in Russia supposedly up in a ballon.
WW2 Dunkirk. W.O.P/AS.
I do have Pic of him with about a hundred other guys in the early 70s receiving his medals from the Queen in Edinburgh.
I remembering him saying that after he came back from Dunkirk he was grounded as to old to fight and was stationed at a RAF base somewhere as a Warrant Officer. Also have missing years also between the wars, he never talked much!

Is he the Arthur Pinnington who appears on the 1911 census in the Bluecoat school? I think he is with his parents on the 1901.I can't find any war records though.
Hope this info is of some use.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Not all of the WWI documents have survived, have you checked both Ancestry and the National Archives?

Steviebyday is correct in that you have to contact the MOD for WWII records and there is a considerable wait for them as there is quite a lot of demand. There is a link on this site for Requests for Personal Data and Service Records

Thank You all,
I will send the form from M.O.D in.
I couldn't find him in the 911 census either. Though I did find out that in 911 he was at Olive Mount Children's Home in Liverpool, as his father had died in 1900 is mother had two daughters to take care of.
