You might get more help with this enquiry on the forum linked below. If you know the county there are specific counties on there otherwise post in the general Irish enquiries:-

Assuming 'Eastdown' is 'east County Down' I think this is the one you are looking for? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballycopeland_Windmill
Can you enlighten us as to where the reference to BEETING MILLS- Flax Mill in Ireland appears? Might help to identify it or the company.
Incidentally, 'Beeting' is an old term often associated with weaving.

Well done DS, most of us would have been stumped for that information.

Re: Mills in Ireland
Hi there,
Thanks for the link Blue70 will look later.
Hi, dickiesam, My son found it for me when he was looking on Google (I think), we found an ancestor that was a Miller, he stated he came from Carr Ireland, so my son looked around Carr-cullion which is the main village of clandiff or clondiff, northern Ireland. I think he found the mills whilst searching around that part of Ireland. sorry I can't be more help, but if I find anything out about the mills I will post on site.
Thanks again Carol

Ever curious... I am! Can you tell us the source where you found the ancestor miller? Might help clarify 'Carrcullion', Clandiff or Clondiff. If it was in a census can you tell us where and when, with a census page reference and the miller's name of course.
