If you can check the Ancestry.com either by means of a free trial, or at the library, dont' forget to check the New York passenger list database, which as I know from a previous bit of research, are different from the ordinary USA passenger lists, it also gave the place of birth.
This is the details I posted of the names of the databases to check, on a previous post
The Ancestry.co.uk edition has the Outward Passenger Lists ......, however, it doesn't include the "List or Manifest of Alien Passengers", which is in the database New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 and which has that extra detail of birthplace included.

Been out of the loop lately need to get myself organised...dad passed away at Easter and I lost heart with all this, difficult remembering talking to him about it and asking things, but seems to have ignited my sister's interest, certainly in this side of the family. As I say, she remembers them and they were very fond of her, so helping her out at the moment really

I know only too well how that feels Simone, Please accept my condolences. It does trip you up '4 ways past last Tuesday', There'll come a time when you can think of things & sort others at the same time with just a tear or two or a gentle twinge in the chest region.
Keep nudging your sister & between you perhaps you'll find more & more info.
Hugs, Wendy
Thank you for those kind words Wendy some days just thinking about making the tea can seem difficult but I know are right and it will get somewhat easier. I have been very lucky to have a wonderful dad for 50 years, some people don't get that long with their parents
Thanks again
