Hi
I live on Waiheke Island in New Zealand and I am on the trail of my maternal grandfathers family : Heatley. Originating from Duddleston Heath in Shropshire, John HEATLEY born about 1853 moved to liverpool where he married a Margaret Williams who was Welsh. I have been fortunate to locate a number of records however I am hoping some one may be able to give me some pointers or sites to look for the following:
Church of England burials specifically for
John Heatley born about 1853 died 1925
Margaret Heatley nee Williams died Feb 1902
William Robert HEATLEY baptised 1878 (St Catherines Edgehill) died about 1880
Thank you in advance
Matthew

Re: burial records
First off I checked Gibsons Epitaphs, but unfortunately the only Heatley is before the dates you are interested in.
Necropolis
In memory of Betsey HEATLEY the affectionate wife of Peter McCANDLISH,
who departed this life March 31st 1848 aged 27. Christ in her the hope of
glory.
We have tried to put together a few suggestions here http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... =14&t=5739
For older burials it's well worth checking down the numerous entries on the Old Mersey Times website, but it's doubtful you will find online transcriptions for a burial in 1925.
There are many graveyards and cemeteries in Liverpool so to make suggestions as to which area to look can you tell us what the addresses were on the death certificates, also which religion they were.
One of the best places to check is the newspapers, the exact dates would be needed to do this.
There is also a central Register for all burials held at Allerton Cemetery Lodge.
Telephone: 0151 233 3004
E-Mail: cemeteriesandcrematoria@liverpool.gov.uk
They usually make a charge for checking their records, however if you were to have an exact date they might be a little more helpful. Usual charge is £10 per cemetery per year.

Re: burial records
Hello Matthew and welcome to the forum,
If you are sure that the Heatley family were C of E, it is worth noting that in the 1901 census they were living at 48 Rokeby Street, Everton, almost next door to St Timothy's C of E church on Everton Brow.
In the next census, after Margaret had died, John was with his son-in-law and family at 77 Thomaston Street, Kirkdale. This is off Anderson Street, which is off Great Homer Street. I am not sure which C of E church would have been the nearest, but it could have been St George's. Their site has contact info http://www.stgeorgeseverton.com/
I think it is likely the family still attended St Timothy's. Unfortunately it is no longer in existence. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1929 and although damaged during the WW2 Blitz it had been repaired by 1949. It was finally demolished in 1970. It would be worth checking the Liverpool Central Library to see if they have any records which would indicate where burials usually took place.

Re: burial records
First of all may I say thanks for the advice and for the quick replies.
Since posting my question I went back over my grandfathers papers and I found a remembrance card which states Margaret was buried on the 6th February 1902 at the Everton Cemetery. John HEATLEY died in 1925 and I would assume that he was buried with Margaret. As to their first born William Robert ((born Dec 1878 and died 1880). They were COE I will have a look tomorrow to see if there are any records.
Thank you again
Matthew

Re: burial records
As you have a definite date and place of burial I believe Allerton Cemetery Lodge will help you by providing a map identifying the grave. Whether or not they will go to the trouble of checking who else is in the grave I don't know, but if there is a headstone it will surely be helpful if it is found.positiverateofclimb wrote: Margaret was buried on the 6th February 1902 at the Everton Cemetery. Re: burial records
Allerton Lodge were very helpful to me, however, the information I had was slightly different.
I had the actual grave number (from Anfield Cemetery) but no idea who was in it. The Lodge kindly provided the burial register index numbers of the 'occupants' which I then cross-referenced with the Anfield Cemetery registers in Liverpool Central Library.
Good luck with your search.

Re: burial records
Hi and welcome to the forum. Thank you for giving your own experience. It seems to confirm that Allerton Cemetery Lodge are very helpful if you have a number of definite details, it's a little different if you want them to start a search from scratch, that's when charges come into it.
