Baptism at St Peter's 1 May 1882 gives date born of 21 March, 1882. Parents William and Elizabeth, abode West Derby, occupation Carter.

Perhaps this is where the other site got their information from and mixed it up with the other parents.

Thanks everyone. Using the gravestone names to link William to other family members (ie humes/Hulme and Walsh) and viewing records on Ancestry including his relation's trees he was born on 18 January 1884 and baptised on 21 January 1884 at St. Vincent De Paul Liverpool. His birth certificate does give the wrong date of birth and the various online sources that give an 1882 or 1883 date of birth are also wrong. Echoes of Liverpool have the correct date of birth.

I've corrected the Wiki page providing the correct date of birth and a reference to the source of the new information. I've been in touch with the people at Echoes of Liverpool website and one of them has a family link to William Ratcliffe.

It is unfortunate that the plaque in the Town Hall, created by his work colleagues, spelled his name incorrectly with a 'D' instead of 'T'.
