John WEBB, St George's Church, Chapel Street, Liverpool

Post by MaryA »

The Society has received an offer of some historic documentation that might be of interest to a descendant of one of the persons mentioned. I have removed the email address and telephone numbers for the privacy of the donor, but if anybody wishes to make claim to the item please contact me and I can put you in touch.

At the back of an old picture frame I have found a document dated December 1897. It is of no interest to me but I do think someone in Liverpool should have it. The document is addressed to John Webb Esq thanking him for his services during his time as choirmaster and organist etc etc. It is signed by members of the choir: May Glenn, William H Prince, Gertrude H Hinchliff, Elizabeth Worsley, Edith Maude Gill, William J Worsley, Nellie Williams. The letter was composed "in view of the approaching closing of the Church by the Corporation".

If nobody makes any claim, I will suggest to the donor that they may wish to give it to the Record Office. This appeal will also be appearing in the Journal.
