Hi DS,

The mother's maiden name was recorded on the children's birth certificates as McKELLER. Her married name was DAVIES and it the marriage to Mr Davies that is proving very difficult to find, if indeed there ever was such a marriage. See earlier post.

Thanks for that info Peter. I couldn't find a matching male Davies/Davis + female McKellar [+variations] marriage in England, Wales or Scotland between 1895 and 1915 using 'no forename' searches.

I did find a possible entry for the child Henry Davies in the 1910+1 census....
Living at 135 St Domingo Road, Liverpool, the home of Henry and Annie Fox...
Henry Davies - Nurse Child - 1 - bn Liverpool.

A 'nurse child' was an infant who may have been abandoned or who could no longer be cared for by its mother. There would usually be a small payment made to the foster parents for the child's upkeep and care by the local authority. It was considered a more acceptable alternative to placing an infant in the workhouse or an orphanage.
