Old wills from Leeds - waiting time?

Post by daggers »

Has anyone recently applied for a re-1858 copy of probate & will from Leeds? How long did it take? I have just sent for one and hope it's not long.

It takes up to 28 days. The last ones I ordered took around 3 weeks or so.

I've just had a couple arrive in the post from Leeds, but they seemed to take forever to come. Or maybe it's just me that's becoming impatient in my old age.

I think it was exactly four weeks. Twenty-one working days, plus weekends.

From the Probate Sevice website

How long does it take to obtain copies and what will I receive?

The Probate Service aims to supply copies within 4 weeks of your application. You will receive a copy of the document(s) you have requested. The grants will not usually be sealed unless you are the executor or there is a particular reason why you need a sealed copy.

If we cannot find any documents relating to the estate you are interested in, we will write and tell you so within 4 weeks.

Thanks for the responses. I may as well go on holiday and not wait for the letter box to rattle!
