The Robertshaw family

Post by The Travelling Toper »

Does anyone have any knowledge of a family called Robertshaw around the 1900 era. One of them may have been in the newsagent trade and lived near Everton.
Thanks.

Hi T.T.T and a warm welcome for our forum.
In 1894 Directory there is only one Robertshaw, Thomas engine driver 100 Stevenson St Wavertree
where I was born. He's there in 1911, so not one of your Everton family.

I have Robertshaws in my family but they are all from East Lancs - Bolton, Nelson etc. Are they another branch of your family?
Cheers

Thanks for the replies folks. I've recollection of an engine driver and I don't know of any branches in Lancashire. My grandmothers name (maiden) was Mary Emma Pearson my grandfather being the Robertshaw. His name was Bernard Newcombe and the family did move to Yorkshire early in the 1900s. My mother's name was Kathleen and she had sisters called Florence and Dorothy. Their were eventually seven (?) in the family.

Following Bert's find in the 1910+1 the family appear to have moved from Yorkshire after the birth there of daughter Florence [March qtr 1908] and the birth of Kathleen in Liverpool in March qtr of 1909.

Again thanks to everybody. I'm very grateful to all of you. More information on Cochrane street would be excellent.
