Fazakerley family
Fazakerley family
I have Ralph Fazakerley died 15 Nov 1891, Henry Fazakerley died 25 Mar 1864 and Thomas Fazakerley died 22 Aug 1855. They are all buried in St Mary's Cemetery Kirkdale Liverpool in a family grave. How do I find out where the grave is please?
There is an area of Liverpool called Fazakerley (it is quite near the cemetery) - does any one know the origin of this name please?
Thanks

Re: Fazakerley family
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Fazakerley is a very old name, as are many names of suburbs of Liverpool, it will be named after the Fazakerley family who I believe have lived in Lancashire for Centuries.
I believe you mean that the grave will be at St Mary the Virgin, Walton on the Hill, a beautiful old church that used to be the parish church before Liverpool grew up. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Wa ... Mary.shtml The last time I visited the graveyard it was terribly overgrown and in some cases even vandalised, however I believe there is now a group of "Friends of St Mary's" who I believe are attempting to tidy up and I hope will be able to help you. Do let us know how you get on.

Re: Fazakerley family
There is an entry for Ralph in the Probate Index on Ancetsry. That states he was of Marsh Lane Bootle so could it be St Mary Bootle you mean. If it is that church was destroyed in the bombing in the Second World War. Only a few gravestones remain. There was a St Mary's in Kirkdale but it is now demolished.
The 1891 census gives Ralph's place of birth as Wrightington.

Re: Fazakerley family
Just a thought could it be Kirkdale Cemetery? Do you have a grave number?

Re: Fazakerley family
All three of the victorian death notices in my possession say St Mary's cemetery Kirkdale so i was thinking it was Kirkdale cemetery rather than a churchyard. I am sorry the helpdesk is not available next week. i am sure a grave number is the next step but not sure how to get this information. maybe someone out there knows? Thanks, i am rather new to this, thanks for all the help
Re: Fazakerley family
This is easily confused from what I can gather there is/was a St. Mary's Cemetery Kirkdale and a nearby St. Mary's church with a churchyard. Here's an old map of the area:-

Re: Fazakerley family
Kirkdale Cemetery opened in 1880 so they are unlikely to be buried there. St. Marys Cemetery, Kirkdale was not far from St. Marys, Kirkdale Church. The Records for this Cemetery come under 352 CEM available on Microfilm and not online. I could be wrong on this but I'm sure they have a copy of these burial records at Huyton.

Re: Fazakerley family
It's a landscaped site so burial records won't help to locate the deceased. When cemeteries or churchyards are landscaped there's little chance of locating the deceased.

This grave is from the late 1940's to 1965. LizEducation Officer wrote:Just a thought could it be Kirkdale Cemetery? Do you have a grave number?

Hi
Welcome to the forum. The details of the burials are mentioned in the first post on this thread. The burials were at St Mary's Cemetery Kirkdale not Kirkdale Cemetery.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Kirkdale Cemetery is on Longmoor Lane and is a very large site. However, if you have the details of a grave Allerton Cemetery Lodge are usually helpful in providing a plan with the loctation marked so that it's easier to find.
