I've posted it on a Wirral based forum, surprised it wasn't already on, there's a lot of Wallasey people on there, so fingers crossed.

I didn't know that! Neither did hubby and he was born here.

Of course, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that this watch was sold on at some point in the past.

Sorry not been around for lookups recently, but this probably isn't relevant. However

1914 directory has a James Prendergast a police sergeant living at 41 Burdett St Toxteth Park.
Not sure whether he was David's father and the police ran in the family.

Hi i have just registered to this site further to Sue advising me of the David Prendergast story. I am 100% sure this is my ancestry David Prendergast. I have posted a letter to the address provided (PO Box 39764) and i have also visited thier facebook page but on facebook it will not let me email or post any message so i guess i will have to wait for a reply when they recieve my leter. This is a fantastic story and the watch deserves to be on show perhaps in the Wallasey area.?

Sue i can not thank you enough for contacting me.! :)

I will keep you posted and if anyone has any suggestions to what i should do, please advise.

Kind Regards
Louise

Wondering if Louise has had any good news on this story yet.
I saw some negative comments on the local N.T. facebook page, how grudging to resent a feel-good story. I thought it was very good of the detective to bring to light something concerning a fellow police officer.

Perhaps Louise has now found a relative she didn't know about.
