NORAH/ANNIE PRENDERGAST

Post by Sue H »

Hi Folks back again.

Still in persuit of Norah. Applied for a death certificate for a Norah Davies, Liverpool rung me to say the husband didnt match the details I was looking for but took some more details from me and they said they would search for maybe a connection !!

What I have found is a death in 1915 for a Norah Prendergast in Claremorris

Norah Prendergast
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1879
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1915
Death Age: 36
Registration district: Claremorris
Death Country: Ireland
Volume: 4
Page: 94
FHL Film Number: 0101606

The chap who has my grandad in his tree has put this in as Norahs death, have tried for months to contact him to no avail. Does he know something I dont.

How can I apply or find out more details for the above death ?

I would wonder what she was doing in County Mayo in the West of Ireland in 1915 because that's where Claremorris is.

If that chap doesn't respond you can always get a copy of the death cert from the Irish GRO. Will cost you just 6 Euro for a photocopy [abt £4.25].

At present you cannot order and pay online at the Irish GRO site.. http://www.groireland.ie/
You must download the relevant application form and either complete it on screen or after printing it. You can then either fax or post it back to the GRO. Takes about 7 days if you can fax it or up to 14 days by post. Specify the 6 Euro photocopy version. It is exactly the same as the certified copy costing 2x as much but has no legal standing. Ideal for family research. If you can't fax from your PC there is probably a friendly fax nearby but don't forget to take the fax number with you!.

There is an additional fee of €1 for postage within the Republic of Ireland and United Kingdom and €2 for postage elsewhere.

There are several 'events' in Familysearch for Prendergast registered in the Claremorris district. 247 for the surname including 3 for Honora/Honoria/Norah, from 1875 to 1916. There is no birth for Norah P so I think that is her married name. https://www.familysearch.org/

well I never!!

Unfortunately I cant answer that.............you have all witnesssed the struggle I have had with the Prendergasts!!

It would be a lovely thought.........but what I will do is pass the message to the " adopted" cousin I now have in the Prendergast family........aquired when I darted up the wrong Norah Prendergast family tree......they were a nice bunch sorry she wasnt mine!!

Dickiesam..........think this is another wild goose chase..........I need it to be her maiden name!! Her father did come from Ireland.......and family tales seem to have her children abandoned........ :?

Hi Folk

I was on ancestry when you posted my reply to Norah/Annie Prendergast, and decided to have a little look for David Prendergast.

Bingo!!! found a tree with him with quite a lot of information, so I have emailed this link to her :D

I hope someone in that family is alive to take ownership :D

As I have said before, with out this site, I wouldnt even be off the starting block compiling my tree.

Joining this site as a member, has got me far more information than any of the other big (hefty fee ) sites. It has also captured my imagination about Genealogy.

The work that these people put in is phenomenal. I knew nothing about how to search and construct a family tree until I came on here and watched and read and learnt.......and am still learning !

I will be forever indebited to them.............and keep turning up until I find my Norah........ :D
