Re: the seven stars ?
It's used as a pub name but it could also be connected to old fraternal organisations. Looking at Gore's Directory 1860 there are the following Liverpool pubs:-
Samuel Booth, 35 Cleveland Square - Seven Stars
Ellen Mack, 27 Regent Road - Seven Stars
Benjamin Stockwell, 92 Shaws Brow - Seven Stars

Hi Allan
I am sorry I did not get back to you before now, thank you for adding this to the forum, the photo of my GG grandfather and six other men I think was taken in side a Masonic lodge not out side, going by the back ground of the photo, it has the seven men and printed at the bottom of the photo it says The Seven Stars, as I said I know he was a mason and would like to find more information but I don't know where to look if any one can help I would really appreciate it.
Thank you again for your help
kind regards Sue

This picture is the best I can do and it is difficult to highlight the banner behind them on the right hand side of the picture!

My GG grandfather is middle back row, as this photo was sent to Boston to his brother they could all be family member's and not a think to do with the masons, I just don't know, but I don't think the photo will help much, but thank you for your kind help, and now I know how to post a photo

Re: the seven stars ?
Hi Sue,
First thing I noticed is that there are 7 men posed with the title The Seven Stars. There is no masonic regalia, either in their dress or in the background, just what appears to be a table lamp with a fringed lampshade. I think it is posed in a photographic studio and the men are the stars of something. Perhaps a singing group or bowls team?
Incidentally if you retain the

Re: the seven stars ?
I am no expert on photos but I think there's a possibility that the words THE SEVEN STARS were added later and were not on the original because the words are printed outside the picture and they don't line up precisely with the bottom edge of the photo.
