A Good News Story!

Post by dickiesam »

Our forum good friend Col sent me a note about an advert in Saturday's Echo. I believe it is there for a week.

The ad:
Your Ancestors..
FERGUSON, FRY, HOUGHTON, HOWARD, JESSOP, MURPHY and SARSFIELD - All scousers, are mine. Help me complete OUR family tree. NO money involved. This is NOT a scam.
y**********k AT yahoo.co.uk
Address 'tweaked' for privacy.

Since five of those names are in my lot I shot off an email asking what the connection was.
The adman turned out to be a 2nd cousin. His maternal g.mother was my paternal g.mother's sister. I had the sister's marriage and a couple of children from the 1911 including a daughter 'Lily', but then the trail had gone cold. I did know of a mystery Aunt Lizzie who often visited my Dad's mother in Broadgreen, even met her once about 1940, but I had no idea who she was. Turns out she was my cousin's mother, born 1907 and registered as Elizabeth. Lily was her father's pet name for her. And she only died early last year aged 104!

So my new-found cousin is over the moon because I have that side of the family sorted back from 1911 to Ireland about 1800. I am too because I can give him a lot of info he didn't have and he has photos I never knew about. And I can fill in those missing slots in my database tree.

As someone once said.. "It pays to advertise!" :D :D
