I don't have Ancestry. Any chance of my getting hold of those 60 odd pages of service records?
Hi DS,
if no one else is on it, would you like me to send whats worth having?

So here's a fine kettle of fish, a can of worms or a cave of snakes.... All I wanted to know was his age and his father's name and we've got an entire family skellington in the cupboard!

Wonde if john and william were twins? Maybe they've been causing mischief as only twins cansimone wrote:Just to add to your list... 2 baptisms John and William Stackhouse 23 November 1883 at St Peter, to John and Alice Jane of Scotland Place.. John was a Naturalist.
Other baptisms to this couple are another William in 1887, Bessie 1890 and Esther 1892

Re: SKP needed... found already! Problem resolved.
Hi
I have stumbled across this page whilst starting to do my family history.
My great grandmother was Gertrude Stackhouse. She was married to John Stackhouse who died as you have since discovered. They had a daughter who was my grandmother - Mabel. Mabel married Norman Hudson who was killed during world war 11.
My Grandmother had my Father - Edward John Hudson who was born in 1944.
We have our own family mystery as we have found out that Norman died in December 1943 and my father was born in October 1944. My grandmother, Mabel cited Norman as the father on my Dads ( Edward John) birth certificate.
Gertrude Stackhouse went on to marry Herbert Thorn who she worked for as a servant. My Grandmother, Mabel Hudson and father, Edward John (known as JOhn) went to live with them until Herbert passed away.
If anyone has any information on the Stackhouse or Wilding side of the family, I would be most grateful as I am tryingt o piece things together.
