WOW guys........it seems like my notifications of new replies has stopped for some reason so I haven't been on for a few days thinking that nothing had happened here, it seems I was wrong!! I have asked my cousin to join up so that she can see what is happening & something may jog her memory so hopefully that will happen in the next few days.
@Simone - I downloaded the forms regarding the WW1/2 records a while back but have not got round to sorting it yet, need to see who is actually next of kin 1st, I suspect my Auntie Kitty, I noticed you have mentioned a Grace Carruthers who appears to have died young, there also seemed to have been an Anthony Carruthers who disappeared very early on if I remember correctly.
@Bert - Yes Grandad Peter was on the Baltic ship in May 1919 according to the list I have compiled from the info sent to me.
@Kate - very interesting observation regarding the Scottish Presbyterian possibility, the one thing that sticks out very vividly in my mind and that of my cousins is the Orange Lodge connection with my Grandad's family, it was a very very big part of their life as far as we remember.
Once again guys I take my hat off to you all for the help you are giving me, I really hope I can pay you all back in the future as I really appreciate it. One thing I must do is go back through this thread & write all the info down although I have to admit,(again), that it is all overwhelming me somewhat
