The Murray Family of Liverpool
Re: The Murray Family of Liverpool
Simone, I wonder if that could be Robsart Street that you found?, I say this because I've just been looking through some old internment records of Anfield Cemetery where I know a fair few of my relatives are buried & I came across a Margaret Murray who died or was buried on 3rd July 1872 and who lived at 68 Robsart Street which was a few streets away from Prince Edwin Lane where my Grandad lived, (& Cornwall Street where he lived later on), Robsart St. had 2 courts apparently, Cyprus Place & Tarleton Terrace. Now this person may or may not be one of my relations but I shall do a bit more digging & see what I can find out about her.
This is what I was on about. Did you get this from the Online records for Anfield?

Have to admit I am slightly confused now. Precisely whose Murray marriage are we looking for? And roughly when? Just seen references to the 1950s so is it Leslie G's marriage?
There only one Leslie G marriage in the 1950s..

Re: The Murray Family of Liverpool
I have just looked Peter Murray's death reg up and according to that his date of birth is stated as 28th June 1883
Name: Peter Murray
Birth Date: 28 Jun 1883
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1969
Age at Death: 86
Registration district: Liverpool North
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 10d
Page: 542
One birth Reg for September Qtr could take a shot at this and state his date of birth as 28th June 1883 Father Peter. If I get a chance I'll look at St. Ambrose Baptism for 1883 to see if he was baptised there tomorrow to confirm that Peter and Grace Murray is the correct Parents..
Births Sep 1883 (>99%)

A punt needs to be taken on a birth cert, if its the 1883 birth we will have to hope he was telling porkies at the time of his marriage, age.

Re: The Murray Family of Liverpool
Katie - Robsart Street has definitely come into it according to my notes,(everytime one of you puts a post up I frantically search through my pad), I think it was Simone who came up with 5 House, 11 Court, Robsart Street for the Howarths. My Grandad, Nin & family live in Cornwall Street for many years as well btw. That info from the death reg. for my Grandad seems to have all the correct dates etc. on it.

Re: The Murray Family of Liverpool
In my madness with regards to collating names and addresses for soldiers etc I decided to go through all the Church of England Registers and extract the names and addresses of any children baptised between the years 1914-1922 whose father was a soldier. I did St. Ambrose and I have the following:
Peter Murray Soldier 22, Cornwall Street.
So the Church to hit when you come to Liverpool Lee is this one.

Re: The Murray Family of Liverpool
My mum & dad,(Leslie), were married in St. Saviours, Everton in 1955, I'm confident that the 1910 marriage we have for my Nin Grandad is spot on. Spoke to my mum earlier on concerning her marriage witnesses & it was my dad's brother Billy plus a friend of my mum's so no further clues there.dickiesam wrote:Hi Simone, simone wrote:Hi DS

Nice 1 Katie, so this Peter will be my uncle who was torpedoed in the war age 24.
BTW Bert I'm not sure where you got the Leslie G from as my dad didn't have a middle name as far as I know, he was known as John after his marriage apparently to avoid confusion with my mum's brother Leslie, strange as it may seem, in fact I only 100% confirmed his name as Leslie at the time of his death as I always heard my mum & others call him John but remember all his letters etc. being addressed to L Murray.

Yes I think so too bert. Maybe he was trying to hide the bit of age difference, along with maybe not being too sure.Bertieone wrote:A punt needs to be taken on a birth cert, if its the 1883 birth we will have to hope he was telling porkies at the time of his marriage, age.

I only thought of the Addresses I had for the soldiers when I was looking to see if St. Ambrose baptisms were online. I should have put it like this.
