Rifleman Sydney William Young was engaged to be married at the time of his death to May who resided at 84, Needham Road.

YOUNG- Aug. 5 Killed in action, in his 26th year (6th Liverpool Rifles) Sadly mourned by his sorrowing fiancee May and all at 84, Needham Street.
"There is a link death cannot sever, Fond remembrance lives forever"

DUTY WELL DONE
Mr and Mrs W.H. Young, of 118 Needham-road, Liverpool, have been informed that their eldest son Sydney, has been killed by a shell. One of this officers writes:- "Whether in the transport section or with the company, he always did his duty well. He will be a great loss to the company." When a boy at St Mary's School Young won the silver medal for life-saving, and took a great interest in the Boy Scouts. He was a member of St, Cyprian's Bible-class."
