I have a problem with this. According to the CWGC site, his father was JW Mather and he was 23 years old in 1917. But see the marriage to Alice, below and also the census - do you think it is wrong on the CWGC site?

Alice Mather married John J Spelacy in Q2 1920 (West Derby, Register Office or Registrar Attended)

James W Mather married Alice Hancock in Q4 1915 at St Cyprian, Edge Hill

Children Annie 24 a Confectioner's Overseer, James William 20 a Compositor in the Echo Printing Office, Margaret 18, confectionery in sweet works, Agnes 16 and an adopted son John Henry Dignam, 17, an apprentice in a Wire & Cable Co. All are born Liverpool

CWGC often confuse us with cases like this where the widow has married again. The information used by CWGC was not gathered at the time of death but months or even years afterwards. I am sure you have the right man.
