The memorial actually reads B.W. CATTERALL.
CWGC gives nothing for this spelling so we can stick with the man we have.

I think it would be a shame to lose him as he lived right in amongst the other friends.

LIVERPOOL PARKS POLICE - disbanded 1972
Please visit the above website -
Note :- Liverpool Park Constables worked alongside Liverpool's Market, Dock and City Constables. Often refered too as the "Toffs Police" and in early times the Corporation's Park Keeper Constables.
The officers were "Sworn and Appointed" as Constables by the Corporation of Liverpool. The provisions of Section 121 of the Liverpool Corporation Act 1921 being the last statue covering the appointment of such Constables.
The force was disbanded in 1972 - all historical records covering over 120 years, which included statements, photos, names of offenders and details of the officers who policed the vast Liverpool parklands - were destroyed.
The above named and his Father were sworn Constables members of the Liverpool Parks Police.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Thank you for this information, can I ask that you clarify - it is Rifleman Benjamin William Catterall and his father that you refer to as belonging to the Liverpool Parks Police?
You also mention a website but omitted to give a link to it, we would be pleased to check it out if you would.
