King's Liverpool Regiment
Francis
270079
Ambrose
Private
Liverpool
31st July 1917
Missing
17th-September-1917
Correct entry on CWGC

The above soldier is recorded on the Garston War Memorial under the name of A.F. Grimes.
It has been brought to my attention that the Merseyside Roll of Honour has posted a link to an incorrect soldier on the CWGC site

http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casua ... S,%20A%20F
This Soldier is actually called
Arthur F Grimes
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.u ... i=D2470048
It does state on the Memorial that he was with the KLR.
Ambrose Francis does have a connection to the Grimes family from Garston. Hence why he is recorded as Grimes, however when researching individual soldiers always cross reference their entry on SDGW and CWGC
The Garston Historical Society are researching this Memorial and have sent emails to the Admin of this site to point out their error, but they have not responded.
Hopefully no members of Ambrose Francis family are researching him and incorrectly think he was with the Royal Garrison Artillery.
