Anthony Hogan is the creator of the website: Liverpoolremembrance.weebly.com and had researched the names on a number of war memorials in Liverpool churches. His interest widened to take in the effects of two world wars on those who served, who survived and who suffered from their effects and the book is the result.
He claims not to be a military expert but has immersed himself in researching the stories of many individuals and families, including his own. Few of those named are famous but they will now be remembered by a wider public.
The subjects he covers include recruitment for WW1, the 'German riots' following the loss of the Lusitania, the WW2 Blitz on Merseyside.
The book will appeal to anyone with an interest in local history in the Twentieth Century at grass roots level and especially to those who explore their family background.
The author will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones in Liverpool One (not Bold Street) on Saturday 7th March between 1.00 and 2.00.
