Closing Time: the Lost Pubs of Liverpool

Post by daggers »

This is a book of photos by Kevin Casey of 80 pubs in Liverpool and Bootle which closed in recent times and lay empty or derelict . There is also an essay by Kenn Taylor on the decline of the pub, and some memories of pub work by May Grocott.
The excellent photos show a sad range of once-thriving pubs, some in the grand Victorian style, others quite modern but left behind by "progress".
There is no information on the ownership, tenancy or management of the pubs, apart from a few which still show evidence of the brewery or company which owned them, so no help to family historians apart from a sigh of regret!

Published by the Bluecoat Press in 2010 at £8.99.
