Does anyone know if there is an online list of the names on the Memorial? It commemorates merchant seaman who served with the Royal Navy in WW2.
Google has not produced anything, and the Record Office catalogue has a note of a list, but it is the wrong week to start looking there!
Any suggestions will be welcomed.

It might be a question of - is anybody visiting the Pier Head with a camera?

Is it the full list you want or are you trying to find someone in particular?

If the latter, then seeing as the memorial is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) then a search of their "Debt of Honour" database might be useful:

Thanks for both ideas. I will refer back to my original enquirer for names. The CWGC has a section about the memorial, but no list - I have just had another thought and will tell you about it if it works.

Back again with news that the operator of this site has photos of the panels on the Naval Memorial at the Pier Head:

It is The War Graves Photographic Project, which aims to collect and make available photos of as many war graves, and memorial panels for the missing, as possible.
There is usually a modest charge which few people begrudge in view of the valuable work they do.

Mary, you might like to add this to your hoard of 'useful sites'.

oh my goodness is this site for real.... they have my g grandad listed and say they can email a copy of the photo of his grave marker..... is that the individual marker or just a photo of the grave yard?.... he went missing in action at le touret when his whole company went on recon during a night battle....they never found any one from that company.. not even their bodies....they were all presumed KIA

If the body was never recovered, the image will be of an inscription on one of the several Memorials to the Missing. The best known, with many many names are at the Menin Gate, Tyne Cot, and at Thiepval on the Somme, but there are others.
The project does these pics and also individual headstones at CWGC cemeteries around the world. Their search system is easy.

It had slipped my memory but I believe we have already had it posted on our Websites Board. They do whatever they can, whether it be a grave/headstone or an inscription, and they also accept photographs - they have one of my uncle's, strangely it's not the one I sent them, somebody else must be covering Rheinberg War Cemetery and submitted it.

Have you also checked the UK National Inventory of War Memorials site. Entering Liverpool in the search seems to bring up quite a few.

My O H has been taking photos of St Helens Cemetary for The War Graves Photographic Project,. There are over 300 graves in there. Its been very interesting for him. He's nearly finished them now - just a few strays that he cant find up to now or there is no stones for them.

I can only applaud the likes of your husband and the Photographic Project site for the work done in keeping the memorials alive in everybody's memory.

I photographed the MN memorial panels at Pier Head a few years back for a chap who was planning to do a web site on it, but I can't remember his name, nor can I locate thw website. I still have the pictures if you're interested and can email them over.
