New Website for Liverpool Regt Great War Casualties

Post by promenade »

Over the last 14 years or so I have been collecting information from all over the UK on the officers and men who served with the King's (Liverpool) Regt in the Great War. All of my research is freely shared with the Museum of Liverpool and with the Regiment itself.

Recently I decided that I would try and make at least some of this research available via the web to a much wider audience. With the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the war in 2014 I thought it would be fitting to create an on-line roll of honour to the men who died.

To this end I have taught myself HTML and make a stab at a web site (not state of the art but functional!). Although in its early stages I have entered information on all of the casualties of the 1st/7th KLR and have started on the 1st/6th KLR.

Please visit the site removed as broken link - MA - I would be grateful for any feedback or ideally any information on any relative who served in the KLR in the Great War.

Note: there are some known issues with the site for users of Internet Explorer V6 (if only for security reasons users should upgrade to the latest version which is 8).- however it seems to work best using the latest version of Firefox.

Many thanks

Well done Joe, that's an interesting site and good luck with the progress you will make in the future.

This thread will eventually slide down the page, I would suggest that you post a link on our Websites Board where it will be found if our members do a search for this information.

Firstly apologies for posting an incorrect email address. Not very good at the web! This has now been corrected. Mayanbilly it may be easier if you post a message to me via this site.

Secondly many thanks for the kind words about the site. I have always resisted posting material on the web because a) I was concerned that all information would be taken without attribution - after all I have spent the last 14 years or go gathering it and b) did not know how to set up a web site - hence I hope substance will triumph over style.

Regards

I believe the site is incorporated into the Liverpool Museum site, where the database is also searchable. http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/mol/ ... /kingsreg/

Great resource. Anybody know if there is anything similar for Cheshire Regt? I believe a good number of vertically challenged men from Liverpool (including one of my relatives) served in the Bantams.
