I am trying to trace the family of William Lloyd of Toxteth Park, who was born in 1917 and killed in The Netherlands in October 1943.

I am in contact with a Dutch historian who is writing a book about the liberation of his home village by the British in October 1943. In this battle several members of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders (attached to Liverpool Scottish) were killed, including William Lloyd.

The Dutch researcher has found the graves of these men, erected by the CWGC. The headstones all include personal inscriptions from the soldier's family, apart from William's. Earlier in 1943, William had married a Sarah Ann Peak from Gorton, Manchester, at All Saints, Gorton. The CWGC wrote to an address in Gorton that William had provided, but this was some time after his death and his widow had remarried and moved away.

William's father was James and his mother Amy (nee Lee). He had an elder brother James (born 1915) and a younger one George (born 1919).

William and Sarah did not have a child, not did younger brother George. Elder brother James married a May Cain and did have a family, but because there was another Lloyd/Cain marriage in South Liverpool around the same time, it has proved difficult to pinpoint whose offspring was whose.

The following is in the event any relative may read and recognise,

May Cain born 28 May, 1920, address 1939 register, 44 Micawber Street.

Following years married to James Lloyd, Electoral Rolls, 1950-1970, 28 Micawber Street, Toxteth.

No others recorded in the property. Later years unavailable on line may show children who have reached voteable age, if indeed they had any?

Sarah Ann Lloyd remarrying,

The above is from the post of Dirk Paagman, there was a marriage in 1941, William Lloyd/Nellie Kidson, Liverpool.
This William Lloyd can be dismissed as being the soldier killed in action, it appears they lived at 34 Cedar Rd together up to at least 1965, Electoral Roll.
Unlikely to be a son, William Lloyd also appears on the roll from 1945.

The records available clearly show Sarah Ann Peak marrying James Lloyd in Gorton.

Can you please provide more information on the Banns and the Letter?
