My wife’s niece has asked me to see if I can find details about a person she believes to be her Grandfather.
Her Grandparents married in 1942 and her Grandmother remarried in 1960.

Details on the marriage certificate are.
Southport Registry Office
21st Oct 1942
Name is Jack Payne aged 26 years. No Fathers Name
His Rank/Profession - No 1551853 GUNNER. - Maritime A A - Regiment R A - (Hotel Porter)

Residence at time of marriage - Southport
Home address Catherine Wheel Hotel, Henley-on-Thames

If the details on the marriage certificate are correct, Jack was born 1916.
There are 2 births in 1916 where the mothers surname is the same as the child. Both in London.

Unable to locate him in the Forces War Records

Not certain when or where he died.

Thanks

I took SWB to mean a transfer to the South Wales Borderers.

Was the Grandmother widowed when she remarried?

SWB can also mean Silver War Badge, issued in WW1 to men invalided out of the service after wounds or illness. I do not know if the same applied in WW2.
