Hello again. I am trying to obtain details of my late Father in Laws military career!
John Tisdale was born in Liverpool on 23 September 1900 he died on 1st December 1987.
We think that he could have served in WW1, but cannot be sure of that. In relation to WW2 we have a form headed “ Campaign Stars, Clasps and Medals” which suggest that he was entitled to 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-45.
I cannot obtain any service records unlisted ca identify hsregiment and number, can nynody help e obtain them please?
Keltis

Re: John Tisdale
There is a possible record for WWI, one with a home address of 85 (or 35) Bridgford Avenue, West Derby, does this ring any bells? Parents names are William Henry and Mary Hannah.

Re: John Tisdale
Mary has already put forward one candidate, whose occupation was stated as 'sailmaker'. Could he be your man?
There are two others, one John C, the other John Henry, but I have not yet searched for more details.

Re: John Tisdale
The 1911 census shows John as son of William Henry and Mary Hannah, at 66 Ivy Leigh, Tue Brook. The father is a sailmaker.
Baptisms at St Peter, Church Street, Liverpool show John bapt on 7 Sept 1896, son of Wm Henry (sailmaker) and Mary 'Annie', plus date of birth 29 Aug 1896. Has there been a little editing of the birth date? I think Mary's find is probably the right man, who served in the King's Liverpool Regiment and Labour Corps, and was wounded.
In 1939 the National Register shows John at 122 Hurlingham Road, date of birth 23/9/1900, occupation barman.
Findmypast has some Royal Artillery attestations, holding very little detail. for 1940 they list John Leslie Tisdale, army number 1609331, discharged, age linit, 24/3/1946. Any other WW2 records are held by the Ministry of Defence at Glasgow and it will cost £30 to apply. Is there any army number on the medal form you hold?

Re: John Tisdale
Thanks Mary but don’t think so.
We have just found his Airman’s Service and Pay book!!!! It doesn’t give his demob date but I think we have sufficient to send off forms to RAF Iin Lincs without that.
Thanks again, will return with other queries.

Anybody going to Central Library tomorrow, I’ll be in ground floor reception area.

Re: John Tisdale
Thanks Daggers, just spotted your reply and some of it is correct but I’ll have to sort through it.When I’ve done that I’ll be back. Cheers. Keltis
Re: John Tisdale
It’s possible that Ivy Leigh were related but presently unknown. An address Phythian Street has cropped up where Teresa Tisdale, his mother lived in, I’ll have to check it out tomorrow at Central Library. The playbook does have his service number but no demob details, which will help get his record. Thank you Keltis
Re: John Tisdale
Wish I'd seen your message sooner, yes we were there at the Help Desk in the afternoon, but I was also around the 3rd Floor and outside at lunchtime.

Re: John Tisdale
Just found a reference in the Kings Regiment to John as Private 018532. Do the regiment keep records now as it might help. I
