Liverpool Absent Voters' lists?

Post by barley28 »

This has probably been asked and answered before, but here goes.
The online listings for the Absent Voters' lists (soldiers still away in 1919) don't seem to cover Liverpool. The coverage is quite spotty.
Do Liverpool lists exist online, and if not, are they available in Liverpool Archives?

I am sure it has been asked before and I am equally sure that the answer is 'no'. Sorry!

I have actually compiled an index from the 1919 Electoral Rolls of all those who are recorded as being absent voters. Upon some separate research I carried out I discovered that the forms that were sent back from the various recruiting offices in Liverpool and district they had been filled out in pencil etc etc so there are no absent voters lists which record regiment or numbers. All that will be recorded is Name, Address and the letter (a) NM (Naval or Military).

There is now on Ancestry a database UK, Absent Voter Lists, 1918-1925, 1939, however using Liverpool as a keyword despite listings such as various Kings Liverpool Regiments, there appear to be no addresses for Liverpool, the database seems to concentrate on London, Bedfordshire and Birmingham.
