Private Colin MacEwan Boyle-Liverpool Scottish,

Post by Katie »

While going through the Liverpool Echo February 18th 1915 I came across the following notice published in the Lost & Found Column.

LIVERPOOL SCOTTISH-BOYLE, COLIN M., PRIVATE 3198, C COMPANY, wounded when in the trenches on the 14th December, near YPRES, and not since heard of. May have lost his memory and be in some hospital in France or England.
DESCRIPTION: Age 19, Height 6ft 21/2 inches., black hair. Has had operation on his trigger finger of right hand, slightly shortening finger and thickening the end.
INFORMATION from any member of the Liverpool Scottish who saw him AFTER he was wounded or from any other person as to his present whereabouts will be thankfully received by W. BOYLE., 3, Union Court, Castle Street, Liverpool.

This Soldier is recorded on CWGC under 355503 so he must not have been declared dead until after 1917.

His service papers have not survived but from the article above we now know what his description was.
