The above is recorded on CWGC as Herbert Learoyd Hammond Fisher.

http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casua ... %20HAMMOND

His correct name should be

King's Liverpool Regiment attd Machine Gun Corps
Fisher
Gerald Learoyd Hammond
Lieutenant
Prenton
8th August 1916
Wounded and missing, believed Killed
Son of Gertrude Kelso Fisher, of 12, Curzon Road, Prenton, Cheshire.
28th-Aug-1916 Liverpool Echo

He was born in Southport in 1895. Haven't got a clue were Herbert comes from as all his Army records have him recorded as G L H Fisher, Gerald Learoyd Hammond Fisher.

Sent a error report into IFTC with evidence.

Looks an od one.
Free BMD has Gerald, Q1 1895, Ormskirk
Record of Service of Solicitors etc has Gerald, with note of his firm, his joining 6th KLR as a private, his commission into 1/8 KLR and attachment to 164th Machine Gun Company. Believed killed by a gas shell.
IWM have a photo of him as Herbert.
London Gazette has his commission as Gerald.
History of KLR, vol 2 has Herbert.
CWGC has Herbert.
Probate 1919 has Gerald, and names a wife.

Perhaps the Liverpool Irish or his wife did not like him as Herbert.

Daggers he is a odd one. I have a report in the Liverpool Echo with him recorded as Gerald. His GRO registration records him as Gerald. Terry Denham who I send my error reports into along with the evidence has not replied so I know he is going to get his correct details recorded.

His parents were Thomas Hammond Fisher, GP,.
and Gertrude Kelso Learoyd.

He was also recorded as Gerald on both census' he was entered on and numerous other records.

As Daggers has posted, IWM have him as Herbert, but photograph attached, below.

I have not heard back off Terry Denham so I assume what I sent is sufficient.

I sent his Probate Details, Officer Effects record, Medal card records, GRO Officer death records and a newspaper article. Thanks for giving additional proof that he is called Gerald.
