Hi I am looking for a WW1 Memorial which I was told was in Everton but not sure of the correct location. I am told my great uncles names appear on this Memorial they are George Lee dob 1884,
William Lee dob 1886, I found a William Lee on Ancestry but as there is very little information I am not sure it is the correct one but it gives the dod at 11th Sept 1918 King's Liverpool Regiment and there is a War Grave at Triangle Cemetery.
Luke Lee dob 1894 I found a War Grave at the Thiepval Memorial Cemetery, Regimental No. 14677, Regiment King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry dod 23rd Sept 1916
James Lee dob 1896, I again found a James Lee on Ancestry, The King's Liverpool Regiment dod 17th May 1916.
As they lives in the Liverpool area I am presuming the King's Liverpool Regiment would be the one they would all join.
I hope you can help as I would like to see the Memorial. Thanks.

In order to be certain you are following the right path can you define exactly how you connect to your G/Uncle ? Is this via your maternal or paternal side ?

In the 1911 census there is a family in Walton with a William born 1886 but the George in the family is the Father and considerably older. There is a Luke and a James but they are very much younger in this particular household.

You dont say whether the two Uncles you have named are actually brothers or are they cousins perhaps ?
It is this kind of detail that you really need to be able to pin down likely candidates with any certainty, especially with a common surname like Lee.
I hope that someone knows of the memorials whereabouts for you and can help in the meantime.

Elaine,

Do you know if William Lee married?

Luke Lee served in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he doesn't appear on the Liverpool Town Hall Roll of Honour, http://liverpoolcityhalls.co.uk/town-ha ... of-honour/ however a W Lee of the same regiment does, a long shot, William may have been encouraged to join the same regiment as his brother.

William on the roll of honour is likely to be this chap,

William Lee, 23186, http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casua ... 6/LEE,%20W
Husband of, E Lee, 53 Luke Street Liverpool.

In the original post you said you assumed all men would join a local regiment. This is far from being the case, and while many locals did join the King's Liverpool Regiment, most local war memorials show a wide variety of regiments in which men served.
The Town Hall roll of honour was created from information handed in by relatives and not from official sources, so has many errors and of course a vast number of omissions.
