The above soldier is recorded in Liverpool Town Hall Remembrance Hall.

Romania did not enter WW1 till 1916.

I am helping Daggers find more information on this soldier. I have not come across anything as of yet in the Liverpool Echo.

Anyone have any ideas of any database similar to CWGC

I wonder if it would be worth contacting the National Archives of Romania

Thanks for the link, Mary. I'll have a go tomorrow. A reply elsewhere suggests that some British troops were helping the Roumanians [as they were spelled then] after they joined the Allies in 1916 and our man may not have been strictly IN their army, but he does not yet show up on the CWGC roll.

"In November of 1916, British military were sent ahead of invading troops on a secret mission to destroy oil stocks and sabotage oil wells in Ploesti. This was successfully accomplished - much to the dismay of the Germans who had made control of Romanian oil a strategic focus of their invasion. Romania was then Europe's leading producer of oil. [NOTE - The sabotage effort included my father, Dimitrie Dimancescu, who was later awarded the Military Cross by British Royal Decree.]"

Interesting link - thanks very much. [I first read it as if it had been YOUR father, but guess not].
