Private Michael Barbosa Roll of Honour Liverpool Town Hall

I need some advice please from any military experts out there. I have found a Private M (Michael) Barbosa, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, listed on the Roll of Honour at Liverpool Town Hall. He is listed together with his two brothers, L (Louis) and J (John). They were born in Liverpool but later moved to Salford. I have found Louis and John on the CWGC site but there is no trace of Michael on CWGC, not even if I put in a wildcard search for something resembling Barbosa. is it possible that his name could be on the Roll of Honour in error? Searches on Ancestry and Findmypast don't list him after the 1911 census. A real mystery or am I not looking in the right places?

Michael Barbosa, 27029, Army Service Corps.
He deserted, 1 November 1908 and there was a Court of Inquiry, 27 November 1908.
If this was still hanging over him, 1914/18, he may have joined up under a different name. His family may have had his correct name added to the Roll of Honour.

Hope you can manage to get to the Museum on Saturday, one of the experts there may have additional information to shed some light on the circumstances.

My sincere apologies to Bertieone and MaryA as I must have had some kind of brainstorm and did not follow up this topic on this forum. With the generous help of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment Facebook group and the Salford War Memorials website, I managed to piece together the stories of these brave men from Liverpool and their Portugese father. You can view it on the Hispanic Liverpool Project website, the link to which is as follows.

Sorry for the delay.

Thanks Bert and Mary. I believe that there are descendants of John or Joāo, the father, from his second wife, in the Birmingham area. I contacted one by e-mail but got no response. I'll probably need to write a couple of letters.

I am posting to say thank you for "The Barbosa Family"research on your forum by John De La Cruz.Michael Barbosa was my Great Uncle and I have spent many hours trying to research his military history and death on 4th November 1914..thank you!!
My Mother, Irene Bell was born on 24th August 1919,the daughter of Edward Bell and Irene Bell (nee Mary Jane Irene Teresa Barbosa but always known as Irene). They had eight children; five were born before 1911, two died before the Census, and three were born afterwards - Irene on 24th August1919(my Mother), Mary on 8th May 1917, and Josephine in 1921.
Joseph Barbosa lived with his sister and the Bell family in Salford after the War, and looked after the family after the death of Edward Bell in 1929, until his death in 1948. The family were bombed out of their home on two occasions in the Salford Dock area. He never worked after WW1 due the injuries he sustained in the conflict, which my Mother recalled were due to gas in 1917. He was buried at the Catholic Cemetery in Moston on 16th August 1948.
Both Louis and John Barbosa had served in the Royal Navy before joining the Lancashire Fusiliers, John joined as a Boy Signalman in1899 and was in the Navy until 1911 based mainly at HMS Pembroke and HMS Vernon as a diver.
There are several newspaper articles on the Barbosa's in the Salford City Reporter, which can be accessed at the Salford Local History Collection in Peel Park on the University of Salford Campus. The main articles are: 16/12/1916 reporting the death of John on the 1st July and of Louis and Michael and 2/12/1916 on the award of the Military Medal to Joseph for "Leading an attack on German Trenches" on 6th /7th May at Authille/Blackhorse Ridge.
I have followed several avenues of investigation to solve the Michael conundrum and was so pleased when I saw your post while researching my Great Grandfathers death on the SS.Serula...Without your research I would still be trawling through a very long list of casualties for 4th November 1914 to find the Alias.I am very grateful!
The marriage certificate for Juan Antonio Barbosa and Ellen Murphy on 4th May 1876 was witnessed by Antonio Fernandez and Martha Fernandez.
Thank you again.
If there are questions which I can assist with ,please do not hesitate to contact me.
