Did this soldier serve in France?

Post by luxor »

I found a 'burnt record' of a 'Descriptive Report On Enlistment'. In the Military History Sheet section, EXPED. FORCE is stamped against campaigns. 'British War Medal' and 'Victory Medal' are listed against medals. Can I be sure that this soldier fought in France?

Can you give more information please, his name and if you have a Regimental Number for him perhaps.

He was Jesse Shackleton, Address: 37 Parish Street, Padiham.
He seemed to join the '74th Training Reserve' in November 1916. Sorry, but there is no number.

If he was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal, then, yes he did serve overseas.

His Regiment number is Cheshire Regiment 55715/ Labour Corps 38192. If you look at his records which are on FMP his numbers are recorded and he is in the Medal Rolls.
