At Last after many frustrating Years I think with the Brilliant help of Graham Caldwell in Australia we Have solved the mystery of 2 of my ancestors the tale is too long to put here so I will write it out in an e-mail and send it to Michael to put in the Journal those of you who are interested in this story can read it then
Graham is going to help me with my next Project which is William Highton and my partners ancestor 2895 Private Ernest Edward Firth born 6th of Feb. 1879. in Sheffield (6th Feb. my birthday by coincident). Anyone interested feel free to chip in

Thanks for the tip linde49 I will follow this up asap Graham in Aus. has already come back to me with chapter and verse on Edwards South Africa service in the Boar War and Williams pre W.W.1 Service my poor old index fingers are going to be worn down to the bone
Incidentally Mary how do I put a photo of Edward (Rather Splendid with Putties & Spurs ) on the Forum
