Gunner Thomas Gilleney

Post by Katie »

Royal Field Artillery/Labour Corps
Gilleney
5102/152591
Thomas
Gunner
Whiston
1st February 1918
Died

The above is recorded on Whiston War Memorial, however he is not recorded on CWGC. Years ago when I heard about the IFTC project I put him forward and also a soldier named William John Roberts, who had walked into a canal during the blackout while on active service. Private William John Roberts was accepted and he is now recorded on CWGC. Thomas was not. I am now having another go at getting his case put forward again I have sent links to his service/pension records to Chris Harley from IFTC as this soldier enlisted 1st September 1914 and lost one of his eyes through active service and was posted into the Special Reserve. I will get him commemorated.

Glad you have some evidence, EVERY soldier who served should be commemorated.

Good luck with the resubmission.
