Kensington Library closure? -what will happen to memorials

A number of years ago now I was privileged to work with a dedicated and determined team who were involved in saving the war memorial of Christ Church Kensington and moving it to Kensington Library with one other local memorial. I carried out the research on the memorials (a booklet was lodged with the library) and was present at the well-attended re-dedication by the local MP Jane Kennedy as part of the Kensington rejuvenation project. I am just hoping that the memorials are not lost if the library is closed. Unfortunately I now live in the US which hinders my ability to do much - at the very least I will email Ms Kennedy.
I am also aware that the library itself, housed in a wonderful building, will be lost too - it was used by my school in the 1960's for a number of events which I attended - yet another Liverpool cultural asset under attack (I also acknowledge the 'use it or lose it' argument is a strong one) - I just hope the building is listed!

Sadly these days libraries are closing whether they are used or not, woeful in the opinion of most of us.

I feel a dedicated location is needed for many memorials, these as well as the St Cyprian one that you know we have been working on.

I, too, am interested in what would become of this memorial as my great-grandmother's brother is one of the men recorded on it.
