South Lancashire Regiment
Roberts
17037
Harold
Private
Liverpool
29th August 1916
Killed
18, Maple Grove, Seaforth.

The above soldier is incorrectly recorded on CWGC as W. Roberts

http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casua ... BERTS,%20W

In order to have his record corrected, I have to supply 3 articles of proof.

I have his medal card, 2 pages of service records and Soldiers Died Great War entry

I have tried to find his GRO entry on Findmypast with no luck since they changed their search engines Grrrr. Any tips on the GRO registrations?

IFTC have accepted all documentary evidence and Harold Roberts entry will be corrected. In due course his inscription on the Thiepval Memorial will also be amended.

Could still do with some tips for searching the GRO war Death fiches.

Hi Katie
The war dead appear to be in the category "Military Armed Forces & Conflict" now.
I wish they would employ programmers with a degree in common sense - it would make life easier for all of us
