David Henry Noble

Hi all, something that has been puzzling me, maybe you can shed some light:
David Henry Noble, 123596, private in the RAMC died in December 1918 of Influenza and has a CWGC war grave in Liverpool.
But, his death certificate states that his occupation was "clerk at labour exchange ex. Private RAMC" so he must have been discharged/demobbed from the army.
CWGC commemoration means that the cause of death must have been attributable to service which suggests he caught the flu and was discharged sick. However I can't find a SWB record for him, or medal card, or service papers, or SDIGW entry.
He couldn't have caught flu, been discharged sick, got a job at the labour exchange and then died of flu... could he?
Maybe you can find records I've missed, or you have an explanation or a suggestion of where I can look next.
Amanda
