I have been unable to locate a Marriage of a Charles Locke to a Alice

This soldier I suspect was Killed 31st July 1917? He does not appear in any other lists as being taken POW or in the lists of Repatriated POW's. His name is recorded on Bootle Civic Memorial.

All the other soldiers who were in the list of East Lancashires which is another 40 were all Killed on the 31st July 1917

Any help or assistance in locating Thomas Henry Locke will be thankfully recieved.

Just checked the Army Register of Soldiers Effects and he is recorded as having been Killed somewhere between France and Belgium. So frustrating.

Got the Medal and Award Rolls, but doesn't tell you anything more than the addition of "2nd" East Lancs.

Register of Soldier's Effects confirms his mother is Alice.

Hence my theory of soldiers slipping through the net when death certificates were issued by the War Office.

Re:

Charles Lock was born in Somerset..
Births Dec 1859: LOCK, Charles - Wellington [Somerset] 5c 399

He is still there in 1871 with his parents James and Ellen Lock RG10 / 2363 / 17 / 26. By 1881 the entire family have moved to 5 Whitefield Terrace, Everton. RG11 / 6667 / 41 / 26
In 1891, RG12 / 2998 / 138 / 48, the family are at 58 Freehold Street, West Derby, and are now Locke. Charles is unmarried.

There is only 1 marriage in Lancashire between 1891 and 1901 for a Charles Lock(e) and it isn't our man..
Marriages Dec 1898: LOCK(E), Charles Wheeler and JARVIS, Ida M - Chorlton 8c 1147.
Since Alice states in 1911 that they had been married 13 years [abt 1898] and there isn't a match anywhere, given her age I think she was already married when she 'hooked up' with Charles. So a birth cert for a child would help with her 'maiden' name.

Good news.

Private Thomas Henry Lockett has been put forward to the CWGC by IFTC as a non-commemoration.
