Not sure if I am the right track here...

Record source: GRO War Death Army Other Ranks (1914 to 1921)
Death: PRETTEJOHN, George
Unit: Royal West Kent Regiment
Rank: Private
Number: 20656
Year: 1918
Volume : I.72
Page: 220

There are relatively few Prettejohns in the 1910+1...
PRETTEJOHN, Garry 1878 33 - Devonport, Devonshire
PRETTEJOHN, George 1876 35 - Kingsbridge, Devonshire
PRETTEJOHN, George 1898 13 - Devonport, Devonshire
PRETTEJOHN, George Edward Oldreive 1900 11 - Kingsbridge, Devonshire
PRETTEJOHN, George J 1887 24 - Kingsbridge, Devonshire
PRETTYJOHNS, George 1865 46 - Totnes, Devonshire
PRETTYJOHNS, George 1889 22 - Totnes, Devonshire

And...
George J Prettejohn married Alice E Patey
Registration district: Kingsbridge, Devon
Year of registration: 1916; Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Volume no: 5B; Page no: 433

No children to this marriage up to 1925 and no death up to 1987 apart from the one listed in the GRO WW1 deaths.

1910+1..
Address: East Court, South Pool, Kingsbridge, Devonshire
Patey, Alice E Niece u/m 26 1885 Dairy Work - Statonbury, Bucks

See the widow(?) remarrying?
Alice E Prettejohn married William D Harwood
Registration district: Exeter, Devon
Year of registration: 1923; Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Volume no: 5B; Page no: 243

But don't understand the Southport connection. Could it be 'Southpool' as in Alice's 1910+1 address?

Thanks DS. Could be Southpool there are many errors in the lists for place names. I have soldiers recorded under St. Helens, when in fact their from St. Helier.

A bit more 'biographical background'. Alice E Patey seemed to have had a sad life...

Death: HARWOOD, Alice E
Registration district: Kingsbridge, Devon
Year of registration: 1949; Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at death: 64
Volume no: 7A; Page no: 400

The only child from the Prettejohn [nee Patey]/Harwood marriage...
Birth: HARWOOD, Kenneth J
Registration district: Kingsbridge, Devon
Year of registration: 1924; Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Mother's maiden name: Patey
Volume no: 5B; Page no: 230

Death: HARWOOD, Kenneth J
Registration district: Wandsworth, London
Year of registration: 1927; Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Age at death: 4
Volume no: 1D; Page no: 498

Fairly sure this is Alice's second husband.....
Death: HARWOOD, William D
Registration district: Plymouth, Devon
Year of registration: 1933; Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Age at death: 63
Volume no: 5B; Page no: 270
