The above mentioned soldier appears in a wounded list published August
Grenadier Guards
Private
James F
20817
Broadfoot
Birkenhead
Wounded

On his Medal card he is recorded as James F Broadfoot and he is also recorded as Dead

A search on the CWGC records him as:-

BROADFOOT, JOHN F.

He is also recorded as Lance-Corporal John F Broadfoot on SDGW.

I carried out a search on Freebmd for a John F Broadfoot and also a James F Broadfoot. I could not find a John F Broadfoot, but I did locate the birth details for:-

Births Jun 1895 (>99%)
Broadfoot James Ferrier Birkenhead 8a 515

Footnote:-

James had a brother David Broadfoot who was Killed 16th June 1915. His Service records have survived.

Hi Katie,

I agree, James F would be correct,

There was a John Broadfoot from Birkenhead killed 1918, Machine gun Corps, however putting all other information available, definitely James F Broadfoot 20817.
