Robert Ford Hoy is my latest project. He joined the 1/5th Liverpool Regiment in August 1914 and served with the battalion in France.

At Festubert on the 16th May 1915, he was recommended for a DCM, for rescuing wounded under fire. He received a Mention in Despatches instead and a Military Medal in 1916.

He was born in Liverpool, I think, in 1891. Can anyone find him on a census? I have the 191#.

He was employed by the Journal of Commerce prior to the war and then ran his own printing business "Premier Press" in the 1920s.

Any help would be most welcome.
